D. Lee Braun – Fundamentals of Trap Shooting

Another unexpected find on the internet today.  This video on trapshooting from the godfather of trap shooting, D. Lee Braun.  His book is still worth having in your arsenal as well, if you are a serious shot gunner or just getting started. https://youtu.be/_u_SdV_7phY

Lucky McDaniel – A Legend of Instinctive Shooting

I just noticed that this 1960 issue of Guns Magazine is now available for free online.  It features legendary shooter, Lucky McDaniel, who was famous for teaching and exhibiting instinctive shooting.  Lucky's method formed a good basis for a lot of what our instructor, Buz Fawcett teaches about instinctive shotgunning.  It's a good read, here is the link to the magazine: http://gunsmagazine.com/1960issues/G0660.pdf I also found this great blog article on the original Lucky McDaniel training set.  https://www.pyramydair.com/blog/2011/09/lucky-mcdaniel-instinct-shooting-trainer-outfit/ And this old Sports Illustrated article on Lucky McDaniel.  https://www.si.com/vault/1958/10/20/560260/shooting-by-instinct Here is a link to an article by the infamous shotgunning great, Lucky McDaniel, that are worth studying for the avid wingshooter: http://jeffersonian.name/g1960/G0660.pdf And an interesting link to a magazine article If  It's In Range article about Lucky McDaniel

Herbal Medicines for Cold and Flu, Together with Colloidal Silver for Antibiotics

For cold prevention, take three tablets every four hours when exposed to cold or flu, of both Gan Mao Ling and Yin Chiao. Wellness Formula is also great, my secretary takes 5 a day and hasn't been sick in over 5 years. Colloidal silver is a natural antibiotic which you can take 1 teaspoon of per day (we like a 1/4 dropper full of the 500ppm), as recommended by our doctor friend who has been using it on his children for decades with great results (they have never had prescription antibiotics in their life).  Colloidal Silver is a powerful, non-toxic, natural antibiotic that is effective against bacteria, germs, virus and fungi. It is able to protect the human body from various infections and stimulate new cell growth. It can be used orally or topically on the skin, through the rectum, atomized or nebulized into the lungs, nose and eyes without any irritation or side effects!

Life is Too Short to Carry a Dull Knife

KNIFE SHARPENING As for the best way sharpening of knives, my friend travelled from Denver to Cleveland to take a knife sharpening course from Steve Bottorff ( http://sharpeningmadeeasy.com/ ).  He has his book and ended up purchasing an Edge Pro professional model and a bunch of stones.  Steve really knew his stuff.  Check out his page for lots of useful information: http://sharpeningmadeeasy.com/infopage.htm and the following exceptionally informative page from Ward at: https://forums.egullet.org/topic/26036-knife-maintenance-and-sharpening/ Chad also wrote an exhaustive book on knives and knife sharpening, which is definitely worth purchasing: "An Edge in the Kitchen: The Ultimate Guide to Kitchen Knives -- How to Buy Them, Keep Them Razor Sharp, and Use Them Like a Pro" My friend bought the Edge Pro after he read what Steve and Chad had to say about it.  He also likes the Mac Knife Ceramic honing rod.  Here's HOW TO USE A CERAMIC KNIFE SHARPENING ROD: For serious sharpening, I opted to use the method recommended by a legendary knife legend, R.L. Dozier, a student of the famous Bob Loveless.  The set up cost a little over $100 in 2017 prices, versus $250 for the Edge Pro, but that is not why I recommend it.  He recommends  DMT diamond stones, coarse then fine, followed by a leather strop with fine polishing compound added to it (heating it with a hair dryer makes it easier to apply), because it he said that they didn't know what sharp was, until they started this method at their shop.  That is a pretty big testimonial, coming from one of the elite hunting knife makers of our time.  The DMT blade aligner, helps to get the correct angle and keep it.  See https://youtu.be/NS5S0YLYA74 for Dozier's method of sharpening

How to Blanket Your Horse for Winter or Rain

Blanket Size Examples Snickers 13.2 hands = 63" blanket Debon 15.3h = 74" blanket Dash, Rosa 76 Yukon 78 Reilly/River 16.3h = 82" blanket Blanketing 101 - Adapted to Colorado's Requirements, Mostly Taken From a Dover's Newsletter Here, in Colorado are the answers to these most commonly asked questions to help you make your horse comfortable this season.  For blanket repairs and cleaning, we think that Kerry Martin, KLM Blanket Cleaning and Repair is the best that we have ever found and reasonably priced at (720) 341-4955. 1. Why so many blanket weights? Horse clothing manufacturers offer a range of weights in their blanket collections to allow the perfect choice for every horse based on its personal needs and its environmental conditions. The weight of a blanket refers to grams of poly fill between the inner and outer layers. The fill insulates a horse from the cold by trapping its body heat; the higher the number of grams of fill, the warmer and heavier the blanket will be. Lightweight turnout blankets from some manufacturers have 100 grams of fill in the center. Other manufacturers refer to their turnout sheets as lightweights, so be sure to take note of fill when shopping for a light blanket. Mid-weight or medium weight turnouts have 180 to 200 grams of fill. Heavyweight turnouts typically have 300 to 440 grams of fill. For Colorado, we recommend that you get a turnout sheet and a heavy weight waterproof turnout blanket.  You can double layer them when it is really cold. If you don't have a groom that lives on site, the Horseware® HorsePal Monitor and App, exclusively FREE with a Rambo blanket purchase, can help you understand and predict your horse’s blanketing needs

Yoga

Yoga has been around for thousands of years. It is a practice that started in India, and is now very popular in the United States and around the world. Yoga has gained a lot of attention lately - maybe because it is a fun and easy way for both adults and kids to feel healthy and happy. For children, yoga is about exploring and learning in a fun, safe and playful way. Yoga and kids are a perfect match. Here is what children (and adults!) can learn from yoga.Yoga teaches us about:• Body movement - to move more freely and with greater ease and awareness. Postures help our bodies become strong and flexible.• How to breathe better - to breathe deeply and fully and become more aware.• How to use our energy more effectively - we feel more relaxed, focused, or motivated.• How to quiet the mind - we learn how to be still. This helps us to listen with attention and make good decisions.• Balance - we learn to be aware about the need for balance in our lives and making sure we balance our very busy time with equal quiet time and relaxation.• To be the "boss" of our bodies - to listen to our bodies by modifying or changing poses that are too hard.• Taking care of ourselves - Yoga is a great way to move our bodies, feel healthy and support a good night's sleep! Next, I'm on a Bikram Yoga kick, and got these great poses from  https://www.doyouyoga.com/the-26-poses-of-bikram-yoga-64644/ The 26 Poses of Bikram Yoga Erin Duffin Bikram yoga is one of the most popular styles of yoga in the world.
