DO I HAVE TO WEAR A JACKET FROM THE SCHOOL I WENT TO?
This is a controversial opinion, but no, not really. It makes more sense to pick one that you have some sentimental attachment to, like one from your hometown or where your first girlfriend went to school, but liking a school’s logo and colors is a perfectly good reason to rock their gear. Plus, if someone asks if you went there, you get the fun option of creating a whole alternate backstory to your life!
CAN I DRESS MY COLLEGIATE GEAR UP?
The answer is yes, but also: no. Can you wear a nice letterman sweater under a wool blazer with some chinos for a nice lunch date? Yes, absolutely. Should you wear a t-shirt with your school logo on it under a Canali suit for a business meeting? Absolutely not. Use your common sense, but generally speaking, the more retro and styled the piece is, the more versatile it is for things like lunch dates or even casual dinners; that being said, don’t wear it anywhere that requires actual formality like a wedding or fancy dinner.

Wearing gear from a college you didn’t go to? Fine, funny, a personal choice.
