When we moved to Texas, we didn’t expect to find, nestled among the clichés, stereotypes and sweeping miss Kirk ration about the new state, good old fashion, friendliness people are nice comment, courteous and helpful, when they didn’t have to be. People acting in a spirit of generosity and decency. Texas, to our surprise, turned out to be the friendliest place we had ever experienced. Nothing was even a close second.
We have recently fallen in love with College Station, home of the Texas A&M Aggies. There’s tons to see and do. There is Buc-ee’s in Bastrop for its seemingly endless rows of candy (the giant gas stations–cum–superstores originated in Texas, naturally).
As for Austin, Jester King Brewery, which sits in the Hill Country on the outskirts of Austin has amazing wood-fired pizza, beers, honky-tonk band, and some of the warmest folks you’ll meet.
