For making popcorn while camping we have a fancy campfire popper, which is bulky. Here is a neat trick for your next campfire:
- Popping corn
- Oil
- Aluminum foil
INSTRUCTIONS:
In the center of an 18″ x 18″ square of heavy-duty or doubled foil, place one teaspoon of oil and one teaspoon of popcorn.
Bring foil corners together to make a pouch. Seal the edges by folding, but allow room for the popcorn to pop.
Tie each pouch to a long stick with a string & hold the pouch over the hot coals. Shake constantly until all the corn has popped. Season with butter and salt. Your own individual popcorn serving.
FOR POPCORN AT HOME WE USE A CUISINART EASY POP AND SEASON WITH BUTTER, SALT, AND TRUFFLE OIL, BUT HERE’S A NEAT TRICK FOR MICROWAVING POPCORN.
- ¼ cup popcorn kernels, preferably organic
- Brown paper lunch bag
- Optional: Melted butter, oil, and/or salt
INSTRUCTIONS
Pour the kernels into the brown paper bag.
Tightly fold over the top three or four times. No tape or staples are necessary.
Put it in the microwave and start it on high for 3 minutes and 30 seconds.
Listen for the popping to slow down to 3 or 4 seconds apart at which point you will take it out of the microwave. This usually happens for me around the 3 minute and 15 second mark.
Pour popcorn into a bowl and drizzle with melted butter, little truffle seasoned olive oil and then sprinkle with salt.
