Adapted from The Melting Pot cookbook Dip into Something Different which is the best guide for fondue recipes and techniques at home. After making this at home several times, we can tell you that it is super easy and very delicious.
We prefer this recipe without the peanut butter. Further, if you are a dark chocolate fan or even if you are not, the Ghirardelli 60% cacao semi-sweet chocolate chips come out tasting like milk chocolate because of the cream added to this recipe, so we recommend substituting for semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips, if you are a chocolate fan.
But, here is the Original Melting Pot Chocolate Fondue Recipe from their signature cookbook:
INGREDIENTS
- 8 oz. milk chocolate in chips
- 2 T. heavy cream
- 2 T. chunky peanut butter
INSTRUCTIONS
Combine chocolate and cream in the top bowl of your fondue set.
Heat the chocolate in the pot over the boiling water, until the chocolate is melting, stirring constantly [ed. – do this part on the stove over medium high heat, the Trudeau 3-in-1 Alto Electric Fondue Set works on any kind of burner, but read your instructions if using a ceramic or other pot]. Add peanut butter and stir until blended. Keep fondue warm over low heat for serving [ed. – do this part on the electric fondue plate].
Enjoy with fresh strawberries, bananas, cheesecake, Rice Krispies Treats®, marshmallows, pound cake and brownies for dipping.
[TRY THIS ONE TOO… THE MELTING POT’S FLAMING TURTLE RECIPE]
The Flaming Turtle just adds 4 oz. more chocolate, 1/4 c. caramel ice cream topping and 1 T. rum and 3 T. chopped pecans instead of the peanut butter.
Enjoy with fresh strawberries, bananas, cheesecake, Rice Krispies Treats®, marshmallows, pound cake and brownies for dipping.
