BlueLite and Sand Clear for Your Horses

It's that time of summer when colic can hit tired, dehydrated horses and sand often builds in horses pastured in sandy paddocks.  Two of our favorite products recommended by our veterinarians are BlueLite electrolite pellets and Sand Clear Crumbles. Equine BlueLite Pellets are so tasty, you don't even have to top dress them on feed.  Just pour a scoop in each horses bucket for them to receive added nutrients and electrolytes.  Our horses go straight to drinking a lot of water after eating the pellets, which is a reassuring process after a hard day of polo. In addition to having a balanced salt block available near the horses' water, BlueLite pellets provides instant results when your horse needs it most to restores the essential nutrients lost during heavy workout and improves recovery time.  While other remedies such as Morton Lite Salt also provides electrolites, we think the BlueLite pellets are worth the extra money for their ease of use.  The pellets provide salt and potassium chloride blended with iodide and a free-flowing agent.   BlueLite is a balanced electrolyte formula which is easily digestible, non-abrasive, and contains essential amino acids, vitamins and minerals. Top dress Equine BlueLite Powder on the grain ration according to the degree of dehydration based on the following pony/horse weight: 300-600 lbs - Routine or Mild Activity (1-2 oz daily), Extensive Activity (2-3 oz daily) 600-900 lbs - Routine or Mild Activity (3-4 oz daily), Extensive Activity (4-6 oz daily) 900-1200 lbs - Routine or Mild Activity (5-6 oz daily), Extensive Activity (6-10 oz daily) 1200 + lbs - Routine or Mild Activity (7-8 oz daily), Extensive Activity (8-10 oz daily) Bluelite can be ordered online from many sources: http://www.techmixglobal.com/equine-bluelite Sand Clear pellets contain psyllium

Arapahoe Hunt Pony Club is Formed

The Arapahoe Hunt Pony Club was formed in partnership with the Arapahoe Hunt to give young equestrians the riding, leadership, and horsemanship skills necessary to become successful foxhunters. The Arapahoe Hunt strongly supports juniors in the hunt field with a lively and growing junior program, and the Arapahoe Hunt Pony Club was created as another facet of that support by offering juniors and adults an additional level of opportunity to increase and hone their skills through the formal program of the United States Pony Club. http://arapahoehuntponyclub.com/

Instinctive Shooting: The Making of a Master Gunner [Now Published in Hardcover]

At long last the book is published as of July 9, 2013.  Order your copy today through Amazon or other retailers. Learn to point and shoot like a pro. Here, point and shoot.” These words from his father propelled Buz Fawcett’s shooting success as a child, gaining him a number of High Gun awards at local trap clubs by the time he was fourteen. Because of his success, his father awarded him his grandfather’s Model 1912 Winchester, which he mastered, even though it “kicked the whey” out of him. However, his amazing shooting abilities as a kid didn’t follow him into adulthood. Fawcett entered into what he calls his “Dark Ages” of shooting after accepting an associate editor position at Sports Afield in New York City, where he had to read and edit what other gunmen were writing about shooting techniques. Eventually, he took a position as editor of Guns & Ammo magazine, located in California. He soon found himself in a position where he could shoot as much as he liked. After a number of years and extensive research into shooting methods, Fawcett rediscovered his talents through a technique called “Instinctive Shooting.” This research and a lot of practice finally led to teaching a workshop on instinctive shooting to help others become adept at this miraculous “point and shoot” method. Instinctive Shooting is Fawcett’s guide for other gunmen, describing exactly how and what needs to be done to achieve the ultimate shooting instincts. Practical and hands-on, the book covers such topics as determining your dominant eye, achieving proper shotgun fit, how to correct point and shoot, selecting equipment, practice regimens, mounting, and much more. 150 color Illustrations http://www.amazon.com/Instinctive-Shooting-Making-Master-Gunner/dp/1620877023

Bear Your Part in the Battle of Life

“Angling teaches a man patience and self control; (fox) hunting improves not only good horsemanship, but pluck and observation; whilst shooting inculcates quickness of hand and eye coupled with endurance and the power of bearing fatigue; football, cricket, rowing, rackets, tennis all bring to the front and encourage qualities that are essentially manly; and perhaps no sport tends to combine all these lessons so much as polo, none makes a man more a man than this entrancing game, none fits him more for the sterner joys of war or enables him better to bear his part in the battle of life.”    - J. Moray Brown, Badminton Library of Sports and Pastimes, 1891 And, while you are at it, check out the new United States Polo Association website. And take back your power. Every time I hear this BS about us (those who struggle with addiction [and you could add those with other issues as well]) being powerless, it makes me angry. Because it isn't true. And saying it over and over just makes it harder to really find freedom forever. But... in AA it's the first step - Admit that you're powerless over alcohol/weed/cocaine/whatever. EVEN though you are literally exerting your power by going to the meeting... or talking to a sponsor... or checking into rehab. You are LITERALLY showing you have power and choice and at the EXACT same time are being forced to claim powerlessness. It drives me crazy. EVERYTHING about the change I've seen in thousands of people has told me that people have SO much power but have actually give up too much of it. Instead of beating them down more and telling them they are worse we need to

The Kluge Picnic Hamper

The ultimate picnic hamper was featured in the 2005 Christy's auction of the contents of Albemarle House, Patricia Kluge's estate in Virginia.  This is the ultimate picnic hamper. Lindaraxa.blogspot.com writes, "Commissioned in the 1980's by the Kluges from the London firm of Asprey, jewellers and silversmith to the British Royal Family, this picnic hamper is the pinnacle of sophistication. Containing a full service of just about everything imaginable for a party of sixteen, the hamper can be towed to the perfect picnic location by hooking it to the back of a tractor. The wicker trailer holds about 15 wicker cases, each fitted with brass handles and leather straps, with battery-powered hot and cold boxes and a water pump, cases for Bernardaud Limoges china, Baccarat crystal, Asprey silver cutlery, a staghorn bar service, two folding mahogany tables and 16 chairs, each with the monogram "K." The set was estimated at $20,000 to $30,000 and sold for a whopping $144,000.  Although day-trippers have used wicker carryalls since the 1700s, the true picnic basket was born in 1901, when British luxury-goods retailers like Asprey started stocking hampers filled with tableware for motorists to enjoy on country drives." The Asprey hampers now go for over $100K as well, but are the pinnacles of baskets.
