Forest Grouse in the Fall DigitalCommons@USU – Utah State University Utah has two types of forest grouse that inhabit our mountain forests and rangelands; namely ruffed grouse (Bonasa umbellus) and dusky grouse.

While we don’t have any ruffed grouse range left in Colorado, bue grouse which are now called dusky grouse are prevalent. Check out this great article.
