What Makes the V8F Better

Lightweight and Portable
At approximately 32–35 pounds depending on configuration, the V8F remains exceptionally easy to carry. Its combination of a full-size 16-inch wheel and relatively low weight is unusual in this class. If portability is a priority, the V8F is difficult to beat.

More Power and Speed
The V8F uses a 1,000W motor with up to 2,000W peak output, providing additional acceleration, hill-climbing ability, and speed reserve compared with the original V8. Its 21.7 mph maximum speed gives riders noticeably more headroom for everyday riding.

Larger Pedals
The V8F is equipped with larger, more aggressively textured 9.5-inch pedals. The additional surface area provides better support and comfort, particularly for riders with larger feet.

Improved Ergonomics
The V8F replaces the original V8’s more pronounced upper body contours with molded side padding designed to improve contact with the rider’s legs. The result is a more comfortable riding position, particularly during longer sessions.

Larger Tire
The 2.125-inch tire provides additional stability and control compared with the narrower tire used on the original V8. The V8F feels less twitchy while remaining nimble and responsive.

The Trade-Off

The V8F is still a mid-range wheel. Riders who routinely travel more than 20 miles at higher cruising speeds may eventually want a larger, higher-capacity model such as the InMotion V10/F or other long-range performance wheels.

That is worth considering before buying. Many riders initially believe they do not need additional speed or range, only to discover later that their riding expands once they become comfortable on an electric unicycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can an existing V8 be upgraded to a V8F?

Technically, yes. However, replacing the V8’s motor, battery, controller, pedals, and side padding individually would generally cost more than purchasing a new V8F. Certain components, including the pedals and side padding, can be purchased separately. An upgrade involving only the controller and motor may also be possible for approximately $500.

How much heavier is the V8F than the V8?

Approximately 2 pounds, primarily due to the upgraded motor.

Are V8 components compatible with the V8F?

Yes. The V8F retains more than 75% of the original V8’s basic structure, including the body, lighting, handle, panels, and power switch. This commonality also helps keep replacement parts readily available and relatively inexpensive.

What is the factory speed limit?

The V8F ships with a 25 km/h (15.5 mph) speed limit. Using the InMotion application, riders can adjust the speed setting to as much as 35 km/h (approximately 21.7 mph).

Can the lights be controlled without the app?

Yes. The side lighting can be switched on or off using the controls on the wheel. The headlight can be operated using the power button, while the rear light remains illuminated whenever the wheel is powered on.

Can the V8F be ridden in the rain?

The V8F features a fully enclosed battery compartment with additional protection against water intrusion. Based on eWheels’ experience with the V8 platform, the design has demonstrated strong resistance to water-related damage. InMotion recommends riding in light rain or on damp surfaces but advises against heavy rain or leaving the wheel exposed to the elements.

Is the V8F covered by a warranty?

eWheels provides a one-year warranty from the date of shipment covering labor and parts for non-consumable components such as the controller, motor, and battery pack. Tires, inner tubes, and damage resulting from accidents are excluded. Customers may either perform eligible repairs themselves or send the wheel to eWheels’ Tucson service center. Shipping costs are not included.
