Garden Seeds

Our Jamaican farmer friend Hamish used seeds in Colorado which he bought from Murdoch’s, which seemed to be as good as any, which he used in a raised row garden.   Karen uses Henry Fields sees and then live plants for tomatoes, peppers and cabbage from Tagawa Gardens over in Parker.  We tried a bunch from www.rareseeds.com which didn’t do great for us, but most were improperly planted.  We’ll try them again next year and we are trying Victory Seeds for Navajo Tobacco next year.  Also trying some Navajo medicinal herbs to make Navajo tea and wild lettuce, together with some French marigolds for the side of the house from www.strictlymedicinalseeds.com.  We also got some strange seeds including Navajo Tea (Thelesperma filifolium), Wild Lettuce (Lactuca virosa) and French Marigold (Tagetes Patula), from another online source, to try next year.

To Navajos, Ant represents super strength, intelligence, psychic abilities, telepathic communication, sharp thinking and planning.  The big Black Ant warns of earthquakes. Red biting ants are bad powers and challengers. Other kinds of ants can be messengers and allies.  Small ants are a nuisance at a picnic but not a few in the garden.
