Kava

  4. Kava

The Classic Island Method

Traditional kava root requires straining to extract the active compounds (kavalactones) from the root fiber. While it takes a few extra minutes, many people enjoy the full ritual and rich experience.

What You’ll Need:

  • Traditional or medium-grind kava
  • A strainer bag or nut milk bag
  • Warm water
  • A large bowl

Pro Tip: Drink kava on a relatively empty stomach for stronger effects and a smoother experience.

How to Prepare:

  1. Add your desired amount of kava root into the strainer bag.
  2. Place the bag into a bowl of warm (not boiling) water.
  3. Knead and squeeze the bag continuously for 5–10 minutes.
  4. The water will turn earthy and opaque that’s the good stuff.
  5. Pour into your favorite Shell Cup or Tiki Mug (Coming soon).
